Weiβ Schwarz Cards of the Day: 19th of February

We’ve got a Blue double bill today, and it looks like Kirito is continuing his habit of attacking twice. He’s joined by Yui, who can help you draw cards.

Revelation of unique skill Kirito

I think this is Kirito's gimmick.

[CONT] For every 1 Marker under this card, this card gains Level +1, Power + 1500.

[AUTO] When this card’s battle opponent is Reversed, you may place the top 1 card of your deck under this card as a Marker.

[AUTO][Place all the Markers under this card in the Waiting Room] When your other character attacks, and this card has 5 or more markers under it, you may pay the Cost. If you do so, Stand this card, during that turn, this card gains Power +6000.

Up first we have a Kirito that can gains lots of Markers, in addition to being the second Kirito able to attack twice in a single turn. If you can keep him around on the stage long enough he can become quite a force to be reckoned with.

All three of his effects are linked, with the second providing the markers needed for his other effects. Every time Kirito defeats an opponent, you can place a Marker underneath him and make him even more powerful. After a single win he gets up to 9000, the standard for a 2/2, two wins and he reaches 10,500 breaking the Level 3 barrier, and so on. By the time he’s amassed enough Markers to use his third effect he’ll already have reached at least 15,000. What’s more, since his Level also increases each time, he can get an increased boost from Level support cards as well. For example a Centre border Kirito with 5 markers, backed up by 2 Level supports would reach 23,000 which won’t be going down in battle any time soon. He could still go down to bounce cards, or Adachi from Persona 4 though. If you want to get him lots of Markers, you’ll probably have to use up several Counters to protect him though.

Once Kirito gets 5 Markers he can give them up for the chance to attack again, and 6000 Power. The power boost is actually less than he would have had from the markers, but I would have assumed he won’t really need the boost by that point anyway. You’re more using this effect for the ability to double attack, and potentially end the game earlier anyway.

Aside from this, just building up Markers can be helpful, since it thins your Deck down, without adding cards to your Waiting Room. This will allow you to have a smaller deck, when you Refresh, hopefully making you more likely to cancel damage afterwards. However since you cannot check the Markers, this could instead come back to bite you, by placing Climaxes underneath him.

Mysterious Girl Yui

So she's not real?

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 1500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

[ACT] [(1)] Draw 1 card, place 1 card from your Hand in the Waiting Room.

[ACT] [Put this card and 1 of your characters to Rest] Choose 1 of your characters, until the end of your opponent’s next turn, that character gains Power +1000.

Yui’s back, and once again with a draw effect. Her first effect is simple and useful, allowing you to draw 1 and discard 1 for the cost of 1 Stock. This can allow you to speed through your deck, and dump useless cards to your Waiting Room, whilst also allowing you to potentially get Climaxes out of your Stock. If you need an out, Yui might be able to help you find it.

Her second effect allows her to still be useful when you aren’t using her draw effect, rather than just sitting there and waiting for the next turn. By Resting her and probably another support card, she can give +1000 to a character that lasts through the opponent’s turn. This can give a hand in winning battles, whilst also making it harder for the opponent to defeat that character on their turn. It’s not quite as good as having a proper support card Back Stage, but it does mean you don’t completely abandon power boosts.
