Weiβ Schwarz Cards of the Day: 29th of April – 1st of May

Now that the Nanoha previews are over, it’s time to move onto new sets. This week sees the start of the PSYCHO-PASS previews, in addition to the return of Little Busters! Anime.

Potential criminal, Kogami

The previews have been rather guy short since Fate/Zero

[CONT] Assist All of your characters in front of this card gain Power +1000.

[AUTO] [(2) Place this card in the Waiting Room] When [Fateful Encounter] is placed in the Climax Zone, you may pay the Cost. If you do so, choose 1 [Shinya Kogami] from your Waiting Room, and place it in the Border this card was in.

[ACT] [Rest this card] Choose 1 of your opponent’s Level 3 or above characters, during that turn it gains the following ability [[AUTO] If this card is Reversed in battle, place this card in Memory.

Our first Psycho-Pass preview card is a supporting Kogami, who can also bring out an as yet unrevealed Level 3 card. His first effect is a pretty standard support effect, but is outclassed by the Akane further down. If you’re playing for pure Power you’d be better off with her, but Kogami has some other interesting effects that might make up for that.

First is his Climax combo which brings out what you would assume is a Level 3. From the fact it’s a Climax combo and requires 2 Stock, I would assume the Level 3 would have quite a good effect. Or at least something that’s going to be quite impressive during Level 2.

The final effect is a double edged sword, but if you’re sensible that won’t be too much of an issue. Sending the opponent’s cards to memory will prevent them from Encoring them, or usually ever being able to play them again. However it does also thin their Deck for the next Refresh, so you need to consider whether it will be worth it in the long run. Hopefully you can time it so that the game will be over before the next Refresh anyway.

[AUTO] When this card is placed in the Climax Zone from your Hand, draw 1 card, choose 1 of your characters, during that turn, it gains Power +2000 and Soul +1.

This is the Climax for Kogami, it’s a standard +2000 Power ,+1 Soul Climax.

Little Busters, Rin

Little Busters! is back again.

Yellow / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 4500 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«動物 Animal»

[CONT] Assist All of your characters in front of this card gain Power +x. X is equal to the characters Level x 500.

[AUTO] [(1) Place 1 card from your Hand in the Waiting Room] When this card is placed on the Stage from your Hand, you may pay the Cost. If you do so, choose 1 «動物 Animal» character from your Deck, show it to your opponent, and add it to your Hand. Shuffle your Deck.

Rin is another support card, this time she’s Level support though, meaning she has greater potential for Power compared to the earlier Kogami. To separate her from ordinary Level support cards, she also comes with a search effect that will give a boost to «動物 Animal» Decks. I can only assume this is an important attribute in some Little Busters! decks. Whilst the effect doesn’t result in a net increase in resources, it could be used to get rid of useless cards, or cards you otherwise want in the Waiting Room.

[CONT] If you have no other characters on your Centre Stage, this card gains Power +1500.

Our second Kogami is a powerful attacker who could be quite tough to defeat during Level 0. Went alone out front he becomes 4000, enough to beat or match most other Level 0 cards. Since he only checks cards on the Centre Stage, this mean you can still support him from Back Stage and make him even more powerful. Only keeping him on the Centre Stage shouldn’t be too much of a problem, because you don’t often want to put too many cards out there early in the game anyway. Even if you do, his Power isn’t terrible for a Level 0.

Tsunemori Akane

This show has no moe, right?

[CONT] This card cannot be chosen by your opponent’s card effects.

[CONT] Assist All of your characters in front of this card gain Power +x. X is equal to the characters Level x 500.

[AUTO] When [The chosen existence] is placed in your Climax Zone, choose 1 of your characters, during that turn, it gains Power +3000.

Our first Akane card is yet another support card, and also has the 2nd Climax combo for Psycho-Pass. She’s Level support, making her stronger than Kogami from a Power perspective, and this gets even better when supplemented by her Climax combo. The extra 3000 Power should be able to help push one of your characters over your opponents, and this would get even better with 2 copies of her. You can either try to make a card unassailable, or just make 2 characters pretty strong.

Her other effect makes it difficult to deal with Akane, since one of the few ways to deal with Back Stage cards is via effects like [Asuka in Test Plugsuit], and she’s immune to those. This means that once Akane gets on the Stage it’s very unlikely she’ll leave unless you get rid of her yourself.

The chosen existence

Well here's one without a cigarette.

Red / Gate Trigger

[CONT] All of your characters gain Power +1000, Soul +1.

This is the Climax that pairs with Akane. Since it’s a gate expect to see it in decks whether they use Akane or not.

RRR art is a bit more interesting than the normal one.

[CONT] The character opposite this card cannot be moved to another Border.

[AUTO] When this card is Reversed, if this card’s battle opponent is Level 0 or below, you may reverse that character.

Our next Little Busters! card is Yuiko, who is an interesting variation of a Reverser. In addition to the regular effect which allows her to deal with nearly any Level 0 in the game, her first effect makes it even harder to get away from her. Since it locks her opponent in place it means you could simply Side Attack, knowing that your opponent will have no choice but to do the same or lose their character. This might tempt the opponent to play more characters afterwards, leaving them open to potentially losing more cards.

In all likelihood what you’ll probably be using this for is taking down Runners, by locking them in place, without you needing to flood the field.

Red / Level 2 / Cost 1 / Counter / No Trigger


[COUNTER] Choose up to 2 of your characters whose name includes [Haruka] or [Kanata], during that turn, they gain Power +2000.

Our final card is an Event Counter which is restricted to 2 specific characters, but in that specific deck it could be quite useful. A 2000 boost might not be that impressive for a Level 2 card, however since it can be given to two characters it could allow you to protect from 2 attacks whilst only giving up 1 card. This could either mean you’ll gain cards from it, which is rare for a counter, or hold off a bit of damage. Similarly it could be used on the offensive to try and take down 2 cards for the price of one.
