For April we’re finally moving beyond the Project Diva previews, since the set was released on Saturday. However we’re not yet away from the Music cards, because the Love Live! previews have now begun, but they’re also joined by Vividred Operation, which looks to be featuring the Mayonnaise attribute.
“Wonderful Rush” Sonoda Umi
Yellow / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 4500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger
[AUTO] Encore [Place 1 card from your Hand in the Waiting Room]
[ACT] [(1) Rest 2 of your «音楽 Music» characters] During that turn, this card gains Power +4000.
To start off the Love Live! previews we have Umi, who allows you to maintain field presence whilst hitting out at your opponent’s Stage. Her first effect is a standard Encore effect, but she is unfortunately weaker than a normal 1/0 Encore, at 4500 instead of 5000. Whilst Encore means you can keep her on the Stage and not have to worry about drawing new cards to use, she has low enough power that most other Level 1 cards and even a few Level 0s could deal with her.
The extra Power deficit is because her 2nd effect can allow her to become very powerful on the offense, enough to take down most other Level 1 cards. By paying a Stock and Resting two «音楽 Music» characters, she’ll reach 8500, enough to deal with most Level 1 cards and maybe a few weaker Level 2 cards. Since you’ll usually be able to Rest Back Stage characters, you’ll usually not need to worry too much about the Cost for this card. However you’ll need to decide whether you’re better off with a potentially powerful character that you need to give up a card nearly every turn to protect, compared to just playing a character who is strong from the start.
Snack time Akane
Red / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 5000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger
«鍵 Key» / «マヨネーズ Mayonnaise»
[AUTO] This effect can be activated up to 2 times in 1 turn. When your other «鍵 Key» character is placed on the Stage from your Hand, during that turn, this card gains Power +1000.
Our first Vividred card features Akane and reveals that the central attribute for the theme will be «鍵 Key». At the right time she could be quite a powerful Level 1 card, but you might need to worry about keeping her on the Stage. Thanks to her ability, she can reach 7000, just by playing more cards on the Stage, but you’ll need to weigh up whether the increased Power is worth the possibility of leaving your Stage more open to counter attacks. This will be less of a concern if your opponent filled their Stage up early though. If you can keep her alive you can repeat this on following turns, but if she survives a turn I doubt there’ll be much you’ll need the Power boost to defeat.
Akane will be useful for 1 turn, for taking out stronger cards without costing you any Stock, but I doubt she’ll be useful much beyond that turn.
