Weiβ Schwarz Cards of the Day: 13th-14th of March

14 Mar

Once again I’ve got a bit of catch up to do, and Bushiroad are sticking with the quadruple previews. For both days we’ve had a Climax combo that’s linked to the other 2 cards in the preview. They also showed that my prediction of Len only showing up in Yellow was completely wrong. Also Bushiroad have officially announced the English Madako booster release, and have hinted that we might be seeing Sword Art Online too.

Hatsune Miku “Agitation”

Everyone is invading Blue.

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«音楽 Music» / «ヘッドフォン Headphone»

[AUTO] [(1) Place 1 card from your Hand in the Waiting Room] When the Climax card [Unhappy Refrain] is placed in your Climax Zone, and this card is on the Centre Stage, you may pay the Cost. If you do so, choose up to 1 [Kagamine Len “Bad boy”] and up to 1 [KAITO “General”] from your Deck and place them onto separate borders on the Stage, Rested. Shuffle your Deck. During that turn, this card gains Power +1500.

Up first we have a Miku Climax combo that turns your Climax and 1 other card into two new support cards. This could be very useful for setting up your Stage early in the game, and it allows you to actually use some of your Climaxes during the early portions of the game. I’ll cover what the KAITO and Len cards do in more detail on their individual cards, but suffice to say, this combo should allow Miku herself to reach 5000 on the turn you use it, and will provide good support to the rest of your Stage.

KAITO “General”

Kaito looks a bit scary

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«音楽 Music» / «ヘッドフォン Headphone»

[CONT] ASSIST All of your characters in front of this card gain Power +500.

[AUTO] When this card is placed on the Stage from your Hand, or by the [AUTO] effect of [Hatsune Miku “Agitation”], choose one of your characters, during that turn, it gains Power +500.

KAITO is a basic Assist card, that as with most of them also comes with an extra effect to differentiate him from other cards. In this case he can give a character an extra 500 on the turn you play him, meaning you can have a little extra Power to try and get over equally as well supported cards. The fact he’s an Assist card might actually be important for Blue decks, given cards like Haku.

Kagamine Len “Bad boy”

Get back to Yellow!

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 1000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«音楽 Music» / «ヘッドフォン Headphone»

[CONT] During your opponent’s turn, all of your «音楽 Music» characters gain Power +500.

[AUTO] [Place this card in the Waiting Room] When your other characters is placed in the Waiting Room, and this card is in the Back Stage, you may pay the Cost. If you do so, place that character back in its original position, Rested.

Len is another support card, but this time he does something other than just providing a Power boost. First of all he can give all your «音楽 Music» characters, so pretty much your whole deck, a 500 boost, but only during your opponent’s turn. This will be helpful for defending yourself during Level 0, where you have to rely on Power alone, but will also limit your offensive capabilities.

His second effect essentially acts as a pseudo-Encore for any of your other characters, where instead of discarding a card from your Hand, you have to instead give up Len. This can help keep characters that wouldn’t otherwise have Encore on the Stage, but since it isn’t actually an Encore effect, can allow you to bypass cards that shut off Encore.

Unhappy Refrain

Is Miku techno now?

Blue / 2 Soul Trigger

[AUTO] When this card is placed in the Climax Zone from your Hand, place the top card of your Deck to Stock, all of your characters, during that turn, gain Soul +1.

This is the Climax to go alone with the Miku from earlier, and since it gives you 1 Stock, it means you’ll always be able to pay for her effect.

KAITO “Guilty”

What are you guilty about KAITO?

Blue / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 5000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«音楽 Music»

[AUTO] [(1)] When this card attacks if [ACUTE] is in your Climax Zone, you may pay the Cost. If you do so, you may search your Deck and choose up to 1 of either [Hatsune Miku “Innocent”] or [Megurine Luka “Amour”], show it to your opponent and add it to your Hand. Shuffle your Deck. During that turn, this card gains Power +2500.

Like Miku, KAITO here also allows you to exchange a Climax card for another card, whilst also giving you a Power boost. As with Miku there are two possible cards he can search for, but unlike Miku you have to only choose 1 of them at a time. Since the Climax card replaces itself, KAITO will actually result in you gaining resources. The Power increase should also help him overcome most other Level 1 cards, potentially giving you a two card advantage out of 1 Climax combo. If you give KAITO the Climax boost as well, he can handle most Level 2 cards as well. Alternatively you could give it to another character, helping you to win two battles that turn.

Megurine Luka “Amour”

Are you fighting over KAITO with Miku?

Red / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 8000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«音楽 Music» / «愛 Love»

[AUTO] When this card is placed on the Stage from your Hand, during that turn, this card gains Power +X. X is equal to your «音楽 Music» characters x 500.

The first card that KAITO can search for is this Luka, who can get very powerful for a single turn, but will then be relatively weak for the following turns. When accompanied by a full Stage of «音楽 Music» characters, she’ll be able to reach 10,500, which should be enough to handle most Level 2s, and with the right support some Level 3s. This should hopefully mean you can take out Cost 2 cards whilst only expending a Cost 1 card.

This effect is I think more often seen on Level 0s like [Usual Nagato].

Hatsune Miku “Innocent”

You don't look so innocent in the next card Miku.

Blue / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 10000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«音楽 Music» / «愛 Love»

[AUTO] At the start of your Encore Step, place 1 of your characters on the Stage in your Waiting Room.

This Miku is the 2nd card KAITO can search, and is a very strong card for a small Cost, however she comes with a massive drawback. Every turn you’ll need to give up 1 of your characters, either meaning Miku will only last for a single turn, or that you’ll constantly be losing resources. One potential way around this would be to get rid of already Reversed cards, but that’s not something you’ll necessarily want to be doing anyway. At the very least Miku can be used as a quick and cheap way to deal with a Level 3, so you can save your Stock for your own Level 3s.

Since she’s only Cost 1, it does mean that she only has 1 Soul, so she won’t be able to cause too much damage to your opponent at once.

Acute

Watch out KAITO!

Blue / 2 Soul

[AUTO] When this card is placed in the Climax Zone from your Hand, draw 1 card, then select 1 of your characters, during this turn it gains Power +2000 and Soul +1.

This is the Climax that goes along with [KAITO “Guilty”].
