To round out the week we get a pair of Level 3 cards featuring Asuna and Kirito.
A Dignified Strength, Asuna
Yellow / Level 3 / Cost 2/ 10000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger
«アバター Avatar» / «武器 Weapon»
[AUTO] When this card is placed on the Stage from your Hand, or put to the Stage by the effect of [Return to the Front Lines], you may put the top 1 card of your Clock in the Waiting Room.
[AUTO] [(1) Put 1 card from your Hand to the Waiting Room] When this card attacks, you may pay the Cost. If you do so, all of your «アバター Avatar» characters, during that turn, gain Power +500, Soul +1.
To start off we have a Level 3 for Asuna who can help you increase your damage output. Her first effect allows you to heal, as you might expect for a Level 3. Her second effect can turn any of your cards into a pseudo-Climax, providing a Soul and Power boost to most of your characters. The vast majority of the cards in the set have «アバター Avatar», meaning they’ll often benefit from this effect, but there are a few that only have «ネット Net», so you’ll need to pay attention.
The global 500 can help you turn the tide of a close battle, whereas the +1 Soul can be a game ender. You can either push for lots of damage, hoping it doesn’t get cancelled, or use it for strategic Side Attacks to try and cause that single damage you need to win the game.
Her heal effect also reveals that she seems to have an Event card that could potentially allow you to play her earlier in the game.
<<The Black Swordsman>> Kirito
Blue / Level 3 / Cost 2 / 10000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger
«アバター Avatar» / «武器 Weapon»
[AUTO][(3) Put 1 card from your Hand to Clock] When [User of <<Dual Wield>>] is placed in your Climax Zone, you may pay the Cost. If you do so, during that turn, this card gains Power +3500, and the following ability. [AUTO] You may use this effect up to 1 time per turn. When this card’s battle opponent is Reversed, you may Stand this card.]
[AUTO] When this card attacks, reveal the top 1 card of your Deck. If that card is an «アバター Avatar» or «ネット Net» character add it to your Hand.
Our final card of the week is a Level 3 Kirito, which is the first guy we’ve seen in the previews since the Persona 4 cards finished. He comes with a costly, but potentially powerful Climax combo, along with an effect to help replenish your Hand.
His Climax combo has a huge cost of 3 Stock and putting a card from your Hand to Clock, meaning you won’t get many chances to use it, you’ll also have to be careful it doesn’t get blocked, because that would be a huge waste of resources for you. Thankfully though his 3500 Power boost on top of the Climax itself, should mean that it’s very difficult for your opponent to block this. Once he wins a battle, he can Stand again, giving you another chance to attack, and a chance for huge amounts of damage from a single character. Sometimes Kirito will cause lots of damage and win you the game, but usually you’ll probably see at least one of the attacks cancelled. Although you could follow up with a Side Attack, hoping to cause more controlled amounts of damage.
His second effect can potentially add a card to your Hand every time you attack, building up your resources every turn. On the turns when you use the Climax combo you could even gain 2 extra cards, making up for the Climax and other card you lost using the effect. However just be aware that this effect won’t always work, because sometimes you will reveal Climaxes or Event cards. It also means that the Trigger check is more likely to reveal one of those cards as well, since you’ll have gotten rid of a character in advance.
