The Persona 4 Arena and Sword Art Online previews are continuing, today with lots of opportunities to draw cards.
The 2000 IQ killjoy Detective, Shirogane Naoto
Blue / Level 3 / Cost 2 / 9500 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger
«男装 Crossdressing as Male» / «探偵 Detective»
[CONT] If you have 3 or more other «男装 Crossdressing as Male» or «女装 Crossdressing as Female» characters on your Stage, this card gains Power +1000, and this card gains the following ability. [[AUTO] When this card’s Level 2 or higher battle opponent is reversed, you may draw 1 card.]
[AUTO] When this card is placed on the Stage from your Hand, you may draw up to 2 cards, then choose 1 card in your Hand and put it in the Waiting Room.
Naoto is making her 2nd appearance in the previews so far, and this time with a new Level 3 that offers a lot of draw power to Crossdressing decks. For starters she allows you to draw cards when you play her, meaning your Hand size will remain the same when you play her to the Stage.
On top of this, she has the potential to draw you another card every time she defeats an opponent. There are two caveats to this effect though. Firstly that you need 3 more «男装 Crossdressing as Male» or «女装 Crossdressing as Female» characters, meaning she will only be useful in a dedicated Crossdressing deck. It also means you’ll need to maintain at least 1 other card with those attributes on the Centre Stage, assuming you manage to hide 2 more Back Stage.
The second is that she only has 9500 power, making it difficult to defeat the majority of Level 3 cards. This means you might need to carefully select Level 2 characters to go after in order to maximise her usefulness. Alternatively you could instead focus on protecting her from your opponent’s attacks with Counter cards, since your Counter will be instantly replaced by a newly drawn card.
Artificial Intelligence, Yui
Blue / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 8000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger
[AUTO] [(2)] When this card attacks, if [Sudden Farewell] is in your Climax Zone you may pay the Cost. If you do so, draw 2 cards.
Yui is another card that allows you to draw cards, but this time via a Climax combo. For 2 Stock you can draw 2, meaning you’ll end up 1 card better off than you started out with, since it’s unlikely this is a Climax that lets you draw a card when played. Drawing is of course always useful to have, but you have to worry about the fact that Yui will be subpar when you can’t pull off the combo, and is likely to be defeated on the turn after you use it, leaving you with no net gain.
If you use multiple Yui at the same time, you’ll be able to draw even more cards, but probably won’t be able to use most of them next turn, since you’ll have used most of your Stock.
