Going into a new week it appears my powers of prediction are as bad as ever. I’d expected us to see some Robotics;Notes cards, but instead we get a mix of new Extra Pack and Trial Deck Cards from Shana III -FINAL-, Angel Beats! Vol. 2 and Milky Holmes 2.
Depending On This Sword, Shana
Red / Level 1 / Cost 1 / 6000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger
«炎 Flame» / «武器 Weapon»
[CONT] EXPERIENCE If the sum of the Levels of the cards in your Level is 2 or more, all of your other «炎 Flame» characters gain Power +500.
[AUTO] ENCORE [Put 1 character card from Hand to the Waiting Room]
Up first we have quite a useful Shana card, since she can work as a support character, but can also attack if need be, and is quite hard to get rid of. With sensible play and deck building it shouldn’t be too hard to pull of the Experience effect, however since you need it set up by Level 1 you’re more likely to miss the requirement than an Experience card of a higher Level. This is because sometimes you simply won’t see a Level 2 card in time. However once you do pull it off she acts as a global 500 boost for all your «炎 Flame» characters, which I would assume comprises the majority of Shana cards, and this sort of boost is always useful.
Unlike most support cards she also has a somewhat decent attack score. 6000 isn’t terrible for a Level 1, but still comes in lower than 1/1 Encore cards normally do (6500). It can still deal with 1/0 cards though. Since she’s a support card you might want to keep her Back Stage most of the time, but with this attack score she can also go on the offensive. Coupled with Encore it means you can keep 3 or more support characters on Stage at once without worrying too much about losing one of them on the following turn. This means your other two Front Stage characters can become quite powerful.
Finally the Encore is useful for those times your support cards get drawn forward against your will, such as [Dressed-Up Nagato] or otherwise get defeated whilst Back Stage, since it stops your opponent completely messing up your plans.
Fearless Look In Her Eyes, Yuri
Red / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 5000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger
«死 Death» / «武器 Weapon»
[ACT] CONCENTRATION [(1)] Turn over the top 4 cards of your Deck to the Waiting Room. For every 1 Climax amongst those cards, perform the following action. [Choose 1 «死 Death» character card from your Waiting Room, return it to Hand, choose 1 card from your Hand and put it to the Waiting Room.]
Secondly we have a new Yuri card which gives the Angel Beats deck quite a powerful Concentration ability. This effect allows you to retrieve «死 Death» characters, whilst also dumping unwanted cards from your hand, potentially setting them up for Bond or Change later. Since this effect only has a Stock cost, you could use it repeatedly to thin your deck down, or get lots of characters to set up for a big play.
Angel Beats! already has [Operation Tornado], which serves a similar purpose, however it is less powerful, but more likely to succeed. This is because it looks for «死 Death» characters rather than Climaxes, but can only ever get 1 card back at a time. It’s also an Event card, which conflicts with cards like [“Messenger of God” Angel], which wants as few non-«死 Death» characters in the deck as possible. This means Yuri can be quite a useful new addition to the deck.
She’s also likely to be able to at least trade off against other 1/0 cards, due to the power boosts Angel Beats! cards can get in their own turn.
Investigation Resumption! Cordelia
Green / Level 2 / Cost 2 / 9000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger
«探偵 Detective» / «スポーツ Sports»
Finally the new Milky Holmes Trial Deck gives us a 2/2 Vanilla for Cordelia.
