Card of the Day: 23rd of March

23 Mar

As I correctly predicted (for once), we’re getting a Da Capo III double bill to finish off the week, a Level 0 card and the Climax that supports it.

Surprisingly Childish, Ricca

Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] When this card attacks, if [The Usual Newspaper Club] is in the Climax Zone, put the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Waiting Room. If all of those cards are «新聞 Newspaper» characters, choose 1 character card from your Waiting Room and return it to your Hand.

The Usual Newspaper Club

Red / 2 Soul Trigger

[A] When this card is put from your Hand to the Climax Zone, draw 1 card, and choose 1 of your characters, it gains Power +2000, Soul +1 for that turn.

For our final cards we have Ricca, who I can only assume runs the newspaper club. On her own there’s nothing fancy about her, but when combined with the Climax card she can be useful. For starters since the Climax card is a draw 1 card you will not lose anything by playing it. Secondly because Ricca is a 0/0 you will never need to worry about not being able to play her when you have the Climax card.

Since the deck is all «新聞 Newspaper» you shouldn’t have to worry too much about meeting the requirements for her retrieval effect in addition it also thins the deck, however 3 cards can be quite a lot, so you will occasionally see the effect fail. Character retrieval is always good, especially when it’s free, so I can see Ricca being quite useful. Personally I prefer effects that don’t rely on the luck factor as much as this though.
