Today we get our second Sharuru card (After I saw the Bushiroad blog translate Food Court of Hood Coat I lost faith in their names, so apologies for using Charles for the first card) from Da Capo III and our first Rise card from the Persona 4: The Animation.
Airheaded Trick, Sharuru
Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger
«新聞 Newspaper» / «生徒会 Student Council»
[C] If you have 2 or more other «新聞 Newspaper» characters, this card gains Power +1000.
This Sharuru card is exactly the same as [Moving House Asuka] except for different attributes. If you can get 2 support cards Back Stage at the start of the game this can be very good, because it’ll be a 3500 + support with no drawbacks whatsoever, and especially at the start of the game it’ll be hard to get rid of the Back Stage cards. If you only get one support card you can play an additional attacker to the Front Stage and still get her effect off. However if possible you’d like to let the opponent play two characters to the Front Stage first, so you don’t lose cards unnecessarily. On rare occasions you may want to play 3 cards to the Front Stage, but you risk depleting your hand too quickly, and pushing the opponent into Level 1 too quickly, which could be disastrous for you sometimes. In the worst case scenario she’ll just be a 2500, which can still deal with suiciders and other cards that give up attack for effects.
This Sharuru will be a good addition to the deck.
A New Comrade, Rise
Green / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger
«音楽 Music»/ «テレビ TV»
[A] When this card is placed from your Hand on to the Stage, choose 1 of your other characters, it gains Level +1 and Power +1000 for that turn.
Rise is similar to [Top Secret Immigrant Mari], except she is more versatile, not being restricted to a single attribute, and sacrifices a 500 power boost for a level boost. Rise can be used in any P4 deck regardless of which main theme you decide to go with because of the lack of restrictions. Her power boost can help you get over threats at any point in the game, of course as the game goes on it becomes a smaller relative boost, but sometimes you just need that extra 1000 to change a suicide into a win.
The more interesting thing about her effect is the level boost, which usually won’t do much, but does have some nice uses. The main use will be to counter Reversing cards, since they only work on cards of an equal or lower level. You’ll mainly be making the Level 0 Reversers most decks play useless, but can also be useful against decks which have Level 1 Reversers (EVA) or Level 2 Reversers (Disgaea). In addition when combined with Level support cards you can get an extra +500 boost thanks to the increased level.
