Card of the Day: 2nd of March

4 Mar

On Friday we got two Da Capo III cards, one was the actual Card of the Day, the other was a bonus card because it was apparently some sort of Birthday. Apparently it was Himeno’s Birthday on Friday, but I don’t know anything about Da Capo III.

Himeno in Yukata

Red / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 5500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

Not much to say here, she’s just a 1/0 vanilla. So a belated Happy Birthday to Himeno.

Elusive Phantom Problem Child (Trickster), Suginami

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

[A] When this card Side Attacks, choose 1 of your other characters and during that turn it gains Power +1500.

Suginami is an interesting support card, since he has to be on the Front Stage to work. A +1500 boost is massive at level 0, especially since it basically come for free. Since he’ll mainly be getting used at Level 0, Side Attacking will still cause the same amount of damage as if you Front Attacked, it’s just that they’ll still keep their card on the stage. I think the idea is that you’ll use his ability to let another character defeat a problem card, and then lose him in battle the next turn in exchange. So you’ll get an even trade off in the end. A big problem can be the fact that simply by only playing one Character to the Stage this guy becomes unable to use his effect, and this can happen quite a lot at level 0. He’s not that far below a 3000 vanilla though, so he can still be used to pick off the smaller level 0s with effects.

It can also still be useful late in the game, when you need specific amounts of damage to win the game. You can combine him with + Soul Climaxes, and then Side Attack and hope to cause maybe 1 or 2 damage. If this doesn’t work, you’ll still be able to give an attack boost to one of your Level 3 characters and help defeat an opponent’s in battle, which could save you from a bit of damage next turn.
