Thursday brings us unsurprisingly the 4th day in a row of Dog Days cards, except this time we’re treated to two of them. We get a character card and the Climax card that works with it.
Peerless Warrior Leo
Green / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 4500 / Soul 1 / No Trigger
«動物 Animal» / «王族 Royalty»
[A] [(1)] When this card attacks, if [Lion King Flame Formation Massive Explosion] is in the Climax Border, you may pay the cost. If you do so, choose 1 card from your Clock and return it to your Hand, and put the top 1 card of your Deck to the Clock.
[A] ENCORE [Put 1 character from your Hand to the Waiting Room]
Lion King Flame Formation Massive Explosion
2 Soul Trigger
[A] When this card is put from Hand to the Climax Border, draw 1 card, and choose 1 of your characters. It gains Power +2000 and Soul +1 for that turn.
Here we have the princess of the Galette Lion Army (Armies have princesses?) and what I assume is her signature attack. When combined you get access to a powerful effect, but on her own Leo is a little lacking in strength. At 4500 attack she’s a very weak level 1, however the point of the card is not meant to be as an attacker, it’s meant to be for the Climax synergy.
In exchange for attack power she has encore, which allows you to constantly revive her, such that you can keep her around long enough to draw the Climax card. The Climax card is one of the self replacing Climax cards, so unlike in most cases you don’t lose a card in exchange for a temporary power boost. In addition Leo allows you to grab any card from your clock, this means you can grab cards before they reach the waiting room, which you might otherwise not be able to retrieve in the Green Dog Days deck. Since you then clock the top of your deck you don’t heal any damage in this process, but overall you still gain a +1.
This seems like it could be worth playing in a Dog Days deck as a means of gaining advantage. In additon 2 Soul Climaxes can be a real pain late game, stealing wins from the jaw of defeat, so any extra bonus for playing them is always helpful.
Come back tomorrow when we might be seeing yet another Dog Days card. Also look forwards to some more YGO related articles soon.
