Weiβ Schwarz Card of the Day: 25th-29th of May

29 May

Last week finished off with another Da Capo III double bill, but broke with the Climax combo pattern by giving us a character card and an event card. The character card was previously revealed but its name was hidden at the time, as such I won’t be going over [Returning miracles, Sakura] again. It also revealed to me that Sakura is actually the personification of a tree. Or at least that’s what I assume to be the case. This weeks starts off with a Climax combo from the new Symphogear booster pack, and follows up with two new character cards.

Miracle of the unwithering sakura

Blue / Level 3 / Cost 7 / Event / No Trigger

[COUNTER] All of your opponent’s Characters gain Soul +5 and the following ability until the end of this turn.
“[C] This card cannot Side Attack.”

This Counter card is an absolute last resort, which is what you’d expect given such a heavy cost. Other heavy cost cards usually try and turn the tables to help you win the game, whereas this one tries to stop you losing the game. You’ll want to save this until you’re on the verge of defeat and hope you can get another turn out of it. Since all your opponent’s Characters will gain +5 Soul they’ll be hitting you for at the very least 6 damage, which you are very likely to cancel. If you’re sitting on Level 3 with 5 or 6 damage it doesn’t really matter what you get hit with because it’ll probably finish you off. As such giving your opponent a massive Soul boost will drastically increase your chances of survival.

Your opponent losing the ability to Side Attack means your opponent will often be left in a situation where they might no longer want to attack at all. Being unable to reduce the Soul damage means it’s highly likely the attack will fail, so they might not try at all. They also might have been planning to Side Attack just to build Stock and avoid losing a character in battle, now they’ll have a choice between losing a character or not attacking at all.

As a last resort this card will usually keep you in the game for one final turn, hopefully allowing you to win then. Occasionally it’ll fail and you’ll just end up taking 6 or 7 damage at once, but that’s the risk you take.

Determination in the heart, Hibiki

Yellow / Level 2 / Cost 2 / 8500 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«音楽 Music»

[A] [(1)] When this card attacks, if [Symphogear] is in your Climax Zone, you can pay the cost. If you do so, look at up to 2 cards from the top of your Deck, select up to 2 Characters which [Hibiki] in their names, show them you your opponent and add them to your Hand. Place the rest in the Waiting Room.

Symphogear

Yellow / 2 Soul Trigger

[A] When this card is put from Hand to the Climax Border, put the top 1 card of your Deck to Stock, and all of your characters gain Soul +1 for that turn.

This combo gives you an extra Stock and a Soul boost for the turn in addition to potentially gaining you two free cards. Since the combo is name restricted this means you’ll be forced to play a deck entirely based around Hibiki in order to get the most out of it. In that scenario you’d hopefully have 42 Hibiki cards and 8 Climaxes in your deck, assuming you can get enough Hibiki cards. This means that most of the time you’d get 2 free cards, sometimes 1 free card and very rarely zero free cards. In the latter situations the fact you won’t end up with a Climax stuck in your Stock can go a bit of a way to making up for this. If the deck is mixed with Tsubasa cards it means success is less likely, but you will still be able to have greater control over the top of your deck, which is always useful.

Casual days, Tsubasa

Blue / Level 2 / Cost 2 / 8500 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«音楽 Music» / «武器 Weapon»

[C] During your opponent’s turn, this card gains Power +500 for every other «音楽 Music» Character you control.

The first Tsubasa card is simple but powerful, and reminds me of China Dress Nagato, minus the Encore. Ideally this Tsubasa will be accompanied by 4 other «音楽 Music» characters, making her a 10500 before even accounting for boosts from support cards. This means she can even stand up to Level 3 cards, making her an excellent defensive wall during Level 2 and even during Level 3 if you’ve yet to draw any Level 3 cards. She’s not so great at attacking, since she can only really handle weaker or lower level cards, but you should be able to take out opponent’s cards whilst defending instead.

Desperate battle, Tsubasa

Blue / Level 1 / Cost 1 / 6500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«音楽 Music» / «武器 Weapon»

[A] This ability can activate up to 2 times in 1 turn. During your turn, when you play an Event card, this card gains Power +1000 until the end of your opponent’s next turn.

This Tsubasa can become quite a powerful attacker if you play enough Event cards to make her useful. 1 makes her a 7500, able to beat or match most other Level 1 cards, whilst 2 pushes her to 8500, which can even handle some Level 2 cards. The fact the boost sticks around until the opponent’s next turn means that she’ll also be an excellent defender, likely sticking around until your following turn, or making your opponent go out of their way to defeat her. Without the Event cards she can be a bit lacking in power for a 1/1, so we’ll have to wait and see if the set packs enough good Events to justify using this card.

Weiβ Schwarz Card of the Day: 23rd and 24th of May

24 May

This week has been continuing its theme of Climax combos with a Ricca combo and a Sakura combo (Who makes their first appearance in the Card of the Day in Ricca’s Climax card.) Chances are we’ll be finishing off the week with one final combo just before the set is released.

Towards an ideal future, Ricca

Yellow / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 5000 / 1 Soul / No trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] When [Ever-blooming flower] is put in your Climax Zone, if this card is in the Front Stage, reveal the top 1 card of your Deck. If that card is a «生徒会 Student Council» character card, you may choose 1 of your opponent’s characters and return it to their Hand.

Ever-blooming flower

Yellow / Whirlwind Trigger

[C] All of your characters gain Power +1000, Soul +1.

This Ricca combo is all about bouncing cards to the opponent’s hand. If you trigger the Climax you get to bounce one of your opponent’s characters to their hand, whereas if you draw the Climax you can use it to possibly return one to their hand. The latter of these two will probably be the far more useful one, since you have more control over it.

You can’t rely on hitting this Trigger when attacking, and it won’t always be useful when you do. If you hit it when you’re going to win all the battles anyway it could actually help the opponent. If you’re staring down characters you can’t beat it can be useful, but you may have to risk a suicide attack in the hopes you hit it. Probably one of the more common uses would be bouncing a support card to make attacking easier, which is especially good when it has a cost attached.

With Ricca’s effect you won’t always be guaranteed to hit a «生徒会 Student Council» card, but more often than not you will. With hopefully a bit more control of the bouncing effect it should be easier to clear out powerful attackers or supporters. Ideally you want to hit high cost cards to force the opponent to use more stock, or above current Level Changed cards, making it so they can’t replay it next turn.

Bounce has its uses but personally I’d rather get rid of a card than delay it.

Important matter, Sakura

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic»

[A] [(1)] When this card Attacks, if  [Token of Friendship]  is in your Climax Zone, you may pay the cost. If you do, look at up to 5 cards from the top of your deck, choose up to 1 «魔法 Magic» character from amongst those cards, show it to your opponent, and add it to your hand. Send any remaining cards to your Waiting Room.

Token of Friendship

Blue / 2 Soul Trigger

[A] When this card is put from your Hand to the Climax Zone, draw 1 card, and choose 1 of your characters. It gains Power +2000 and Soul +1 for that turn.

This Sakura combo has multiple uses. Firstly you will probably get a free «魔法 Magic» card which is always useful. Given that it’s a Draw 1 Climax you’ll also be gaining 1 card overall, unlike some other combos where you lose a card in the process. Secondly it allows you to thin your deck and possibly get Change targets into the Waiting Room. This can also prevent you triggering Climax cards and getting them stuck in Stock. However it might also increase the chances of you triggering other ones when you attack.

Weiβ Schwarz Card of the Day: 18th-22nd of May

22 May

Bit of a catch up to do here, but fortunately not as bad as some of the recent ones. Last week rounded off with another Level 3 card and an interesting combo involving it. This week seems to be concentrating on Climax combos with the first two days both showing them off.

Real feelings, Aoi

Blue / Level 2 / Cost 2 / 8000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «ウェイトレス Waitress»

[A] [(1) Put 1 [Magical Mist] from your Climax Zone or Waiting Room to Memory] When this card Attacks, you may pay the cost. If you do so, look at up to the top 2 cards of your Deck, chose up to 1 card and add it to Hand. Put the rest of the cards to the top of the Deck in any order you wish.
[A] CHANGE [Put 1 [Magical Mist] from your Waiting Room to Memory, put this card to Memory] At the beginning of your Encore Step, if this card is in Rest, you may pay the cost. If you do so, choose 1 [Towards the future, Aoi] from your Waiting Room and put it in the Border this card was in.

On first site this card seems incredibly risky to use and not worth the cost of losing Climax cards, but when we get to the next Aoi you’ll see what the point of this card is. The first effect allows you to add a card to your Hand whilst giving you a little bit of control over your damage output and the cards in your Stock, which can be very useful. It’s also the first way to get [Magical Mist] into Memory for later. The 2nd effect allows you to change to the Level 3 Aoi that we’ll be looking at next, whilst also getting another [Magical Mist] into memories.

Normally sending Climaxes to Memory would be terrible, because generally speaking you want to make it harder to beat you, not easier, but it’s all for a purpose here.

Towards the future, Aoi

Blue / Level 3 / Cost 2  / 10000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «ウェイトレス Waitress»

[A] When this card is put from Hand to the Stage or put to the Stage by [CHANGE], draw up to 2 cards, choose 1 card from your Hand and put it to the Waiting Room.
[A] [(1) Put 1 [Magical Mist] from your Memory to the Waiting Room] When this card attacks, you may pay the cost. If you do so, put the top 1 card of your Clock to the Waiting Room.
[A] When your Deck Refreshes, if there is no [Magical Mist] in your Memory, put this card to the Waiting Room.

Rather than healing upon being played this Aoi has the ability to continuous heal you on every turn under the right conditions. Instead of healing immediately she comes with a draw effect allowing you to gain a free card just by playing her, and get dead cards from your Hand to the Waiting Room, or maybe even drop more copies of [Magic Mist] to set up for later.

Her 2nd effect allows you to heal every time you attack provided there’s a [Magical Mist] in Memory, it also sends the card back to the Waiting Room, meaning it’s not stuck out of your deck when it comes time for a Refresh. Alternatively you could just send it right back with the first Aoi to set up for healing again. If you manage to set up a combo like this you can keep on healing 1 damage every turn, provided you protect the smaller Aoi. On turns when you can’t set up the loop you can make up for it if you’ve got extra copies of the card in Memory.

Due to her 3rd effect you need to be careful though and need to think through properly about your plays. If you Refresh with no [Magic Mist] in Memory, you lose this Aoi card. However in this situation you would have more copies in your deck, so would be more likely to cancel damage. If she survives the Refresh you’ll be more likely to take damage from attacks, but you keep your Level 3 and can continue to perform the healing loop. You just need to be careful balancing the risks when playing this card.

Beautiful genius of magic, Ricca

Red / Level 2 / Cost 2 / 8500 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] When this card attacks, if [Proud Cattleya] is in the Climax Zone, choose up to 1 card from your opponent’s Waiting Room and put it to the top of their Deck, and all of your characters gain Power +1000 for that turn.

Proud Cattleya

Red / Door Trigger

[C] All of your characters gain Power +1000, Soul +1.

The first Climax Combo is for Ricca and it’s quite a powerful one. You put a card on top of your opponent’s deck from their Waiting Room, guaranteeing you at least 1 damage or reducing their chances of cancelling. In addition all your characters gain +1000 on top of the +1000 from the Climax, meaning everyone gets +2000 overall. This can help tip the flow of battle, since for example it bring this Ricca card above the 10000 standard for Level 3s, meaning she can start to challenge higher level cards. Chances are you’ll either take out a lot of cards on the Stage or force out some Counter cards.

Commemoration for two, Sara

Green / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 5000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «スポーツ Sports»

[C] ASSISTANCE All of your Characters in front of this card gain power +X, where X is equal to that Character’s Level x 500.
[A] When [Proof of love] is placed in your Climax Zone, all your Characters gain  Power+1000 until the end of the turn.

Proof of love

Green / 2 Soul Trigger

[A] When this card is put from your Hand to the Climax Zone, draw 1 card, and choose 1 of your characters. It gains Power +2000 and Soul +1 for that turn.

This Sara card is the standard Level support type of card, which means she can work perfectly fine without her Climax combo. If you do choose to use the Climax she becomes even more powerful though. For the turn everyone will get a +1000 power boost in addition to the +2000 someone got from the Climax card itself. This is of course all on top of the support from the Sara card itself. The +1000 can help you get over cards you’re evenly matched with, whilst the character getting the +3000 (at least) will probably strike safely over bigger threats or at least draw out a Counter card.

Weiβ Schwarz Card of the Day: 17th of May

17 May

Another day brings us another pair of Da Capo III cards, this time with a focus on Sara and reveals to us a new Level 3 card and a risky counter card.

Special smile, Sara

Green / Level 1 / Cost 1 / 2000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «スポーツ Sports»
[A] When the ASSISTANCE of this card is used, choose 1 of your Opponent’s Characters in Battle. That Character gains Soul +1 for the turn.
[S] ASSISTANCE 2500 Level 1 [(1) Discard this card from hand to the WR]

This Sara card provides a powerful counter for a 1/1 card, being 500 above the standard, but as such comes with a risky downside. In exchange for the 500 extra power boost your opponent’s card gains 1 Soul, which means you’ll be taking extra damage off the hit. This makes it more likely you’ll cancel the damage, but you’ll also be losing faster when you don’t. Later on in the game it becomes outmatched by higher Level, Cost 1 cards with no drawbacks. At the very end of the game the Soul boost to the opponent could actually be useful, since sometimes you’ll be losing anyway regardless of the boost or not, so anything to increase the chance of cancelling is a bonus.

Eternal promise, Sara

Blue / Level 3 / Cost 2 / 10000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «スポーツ Sports»

[C] If your Opponent has 5 or fewer cards in their Hand, this card gains Power +1000.
[A] When this card is played from your Hand to the Stage, you may send the top card from your Clock to the Waiting Room.

This Sara card is very similar to yesterday’s Himeno card, with 10000 power, healing and the chance for a +1000 power boost. The criteria for the power boost are different though, this time relying on the number of cards your opponent has in their hand. Once again it relies on the opponent to work, which takes away some degree of control from you, but I think it might be easier to pull off. Quite often you might find both of your Hands are depleted by the end of the game, meaning she’ll often gain her power boost. In games where you’re winning it’s likely your opponent will be low on Hand cards, meaning Sara can help cement your victory by growing even stronger. She can also discourage certain plays if it will make her too powerful to defeat.

Weiβ Schwarz Card of the Day: 16th of May

16 May

Today we see a pair of new Charles cards from Da Capo III, and I expect the rest of the week will be filled with even more cards from that series. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up to date on things this time so I don’t end up having to do 26 in one go again…

After the First Date, Charles

Red / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 4500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] RECOLLECTION When this card is put from your Hand to the Stage, if your Memory has 2 or more cards, choose 1 of your other characters. It gains the following ability for that turn. [[A] When this card is put to Reverse, if the Level of the character this card is in battle with is equal to or less than this card’s Level, you may put that character to Reverse.]

Both of today’s cards have a Recollection effect, which fortunately shouldn’t be too hard to pull off in a Da Capo III deck, especially one based around Charles. We’ve already seen [Very Much in High Spirits! Charles], [“Ed’s Wish” Charles] and [New Years’ Eve Kiss] to name a few cards capable of helping you fill up your Memory.

This Charles card will be very useful at any point in the game provided you have at least one other character of the appropriate level. She turns any of your other characters into a Reverser, which could mean a painful time for your opponent. Usually Reversing cards come with a low attack due to their powerful effect, but with this card you can give it to characters with high power. Ideally you want to use it on a character with higher or equal power than your opponent’s card since it’ll force them into a tough decision. If your power is equal it renders your opponent’s counters useless, but you’ll of course both still lose your characters. If you have more power it leaves them with a tough choice between losing their character on Stage, or losing a Counter and their character on Stage in exchange for taking yours down. In situations where you can’t match the opponent’s power it at least offers an out to whatever threat you’re facing.

After using her effect this card is basically expendable, but taking out a threat is very much worth it.

Smile You Want to Protect, Charles

Red / Level 3 / Cost 2 / 10000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] When this card is Front Attacked, look at the top 1 card of your Deck, and put it to the top of the Deck or to the Waiting Room.
[A] RECOLLECTION When this card’s battle opponent is put to Reverse, if your Memory has 3 or more cards, you may put that character to the top of the Deck.

This is a very powerful Charles card for the end of the game. Instead of coming with a healing ability this card allows you to check the top of your deck when you get attacked, which means you can increase your chances of cancelling damage and staying in the game longer. Her second effect allows you to increase the amount of damage you can cause to your opponent by sending a defeated character back to the top of their deck, which also prevents them from Encoring it. If she’s the last card to attack it can also force the opponent to redraw a potentially useless card.

Weiβ Schwarz Card of the Day: Big Catch Up

15 May

I’ve been neglecting here recently for other commitments, so I’ve managed to fall 2 weeks behind. Not only that but there’s been special cards for one of the Da Capo III characters and for Mother’s Day in addition to some days with 3 cards. This means we’ve got a long article ahead of us. Also I really can’t believe Charles is the actual name for the Da Capo III character (apologies for going back and forth in the past.)

Lover Hunter, Kirche

Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «愛 Love»

[A] When this card is placed onto the Stage from your Hand, you may look at the top 1 card of your Deck. If you do so place it back on top of your Deck or in the Waiting Room.
[A] [(2)] When this card is placed onto the Stage from your Hand, you may pay cost. If you do so, choose 1 Character card with [ASSISTANCE] in your Waiting Room and return it to your Hand.

Kirche has two useful effects. The first allows you to check the top of your deck and either help set up specific amounts of damage or prevent certain cards getting stuck in Stock. Her second effect is similar to a BOND ability, except it’s restricted to ASSISTANCE cards instead of specific characters. This can be useful for protecting yourself from future attacks and making your opponent wary of attacking you. It does however get rid of the element of surprise those cards usually have.

Dr. Colbert

Red / Level 1 / Cost 1 / 1000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «メガネ Glasses»

[C] All your other [Protector of Louise, Saito] and ["God's Left Hand" Saito] gain Power +1000.
[S] [Counter] ASSISTANCE 2000 Level 1 [(1) Discard this card from your Hand to the Waiting Room]

Dr Colbert is both a counter card and a supporting card, but for a very limited selection of cards. I think 1/1 2000 is standard power for a counter card (could be wrong though), so there’s nothing special there. Where he could shine is in a Saito deck because of the power boost he gives to those 2 Saito cards. At Level 1 this will be a powerful boost since it’s hard to get across the board +1000 boosts at this point, but I expect as the game wears on other support cards which work on more cards will prove better. I suppose it’s more there as a backup for when you don’t need to counter anything,

Very Much in High Spirits! Charles

Yellow / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] When this card is put to Reverse in battle, reveal the top 1 card of your Deck. If that card is a «生徒会 Student Council» character, you may put this card to Memory.
[A][Clock] SHIFT Level 0

Charles is another new Shift card, this time for Da Capo III, it’s also the first in a series of new Da Capo cards which have «魔法 Magic» attribute. I can only assume they all get magic powers at some point in the game? (Or always had them?). I’ve expressed my thoughts on Shift before, but it basically makes the card easier to get into your Hand to play. The other effect of Charles will allow you to thin your deck by sending her to Memory when she gets Reversed in battle. After the early points of the game a Level 0 will basically be useless except for last resort attacking, this means she might as well be in Memory, so at least you have more chance of drawing better cards after you Refresh. With enough «生徒会 Student Council» cards this should happen nearly every time.

Relaxing Date, Sara

Green / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «スポーツ Sports»

[S] CONCENTRATION [(1), Rest this card] Reveal the top 4 cards of your Deck and put them in the Waiting Room. For every Climax revealed in this way, perform the following action.
“Choose one card in your Clock and add it to your hand, then place the top card of your Deck into your Clock.”

Sara is another new CONCENTRATION effect which allows you to fetch cards from your Clock. Since you add new cards to the Clock afterwards this unfortunately means it doesn’t heal you. Since the Clock is one of the smallest areas you can fetch cards from this means you won’t get much choice when using her effect. However sometimes you could Clock a card then get it back with this effect. Alternatively in the early game you could have cards you need stuck in the Clock since you’re still Level 0 and this allows you to get them back. Personally I think she’s a bit too limited in what she can retrieve.

“Magic of Forgetfulness”, Tiffania

Green / Level 2 / Cost 2 / 8000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «虚無 Void»

[C] If you have 3 or more other «虚無 Void» or «使い魔 Familiar» characters, this card gains [[A] ENCORE [Put 1 Character card from your Hand to the Waiting Room]].
[A] When this card attacks, if [Magic of Forgetfulness] is in the Climax Zone, you may put the top 1 card of your opponent’s Stock to the Waiting Room. If you do so, choose 1 card from your opponent’s Waiting Room, and put it to Stock. After that, your opponent shuffles that Stock.

Magic of Forgetfulness

Green / Treasure Trigger

[C] All of your characters gain Power +1000, Soul +1.

Here we have a Tiffania Climax Combo that can also gain Encore. If you’re using this card you would probably build your deck such that you will practically always be able to use the Encore effect. This will help you keep the card around long enough to use the Climax Combo, since she’s certainly lacking in power for a 2/2. Her Climax effect can be useful for two reasons, firstly you can use it to put a Climax card in their Stock to decrease the chances of them cancelling after a Refresh. Secondly since you shuffle the Stock is means the opponent can no longer plan their plays to get things like Climaxes out of their Stock. Of course sometimes you’ll help the opponent by putting them all at the top, other times you’ll put them all at the bottom. Taking away information from the opponent will at least make them a bit annoyed though.

Public Newspaper Club’s President, Ricca

Red / Level 1 / Cost 1 / 6000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] Whenever your other «新聞 Newspaper» Characters attack, this card gains Power + 1000 for the turn.
[A] ENCORE [Discard a Character card from your Hand to the Waiting Room]

This Ricca card works with [Feelings of “love”, Ricca] allowing you to play the card a Level early for the same Stock cost, but you lose that card in the process. However since you’ll have just thrown an at least 6000 attack character down as a defending character against a Level 0, chance are the opponent’s going to be losing a card as well. Because of this threat it probably means [Feelings of “love”, Ricca] won’t be getting Front Attacked much though, unless the opponent feels like gambling. With Encore she will be useful on the defense, even if her attack power is a bit lacking, and she’s likely to be a massive target anyway. When attacking she should usually be reaching 7000 or 8000 meaning she can easily be a heavy hitter and as a result will draw a lot of fire on the defense.

Master Ricca

Yellow / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[C] ASSIST Characters in front of this card gain Power +500.
[S] [(1) Put the top 1 card of your Deck in Clock, Rest this card] Search your Deck for up to 1 Character card whose name includes “Student Council President”, reveal it, and put it in your Hand. Shuffle your Deck.

This Ricca is your basic support card, but will also be a key card for decks based around “Student Council President”. I’m not sure which character that is in Da Capo III, but maybe some other series might find it useful too? Is it Ricca in Da Capo III, or is she just the Newspaper Club’s President? If you don’t mind the fact you take damage in the process this is a cheap way of searching cards from your deck since it only has 1 stock cost. You just need to be careful not to end up killing yourself with it.

Reliable Ally Tabitha

Yellow / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 8000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «王族 Royalty»

[A] When this card is placed from your Hand to the Stage, this card gains Power +1500 until the end of this turn.

Tabitha is very simple. On the turn you play her she’ll hit 9500, which can deal with most other Level 2, and with the right support could trade off with or beat some Level 3 cards. Unfortunately after this she becomes fairly weak for a Level 2. Chances are you’ll use her to kill one card off before losing her on the next turn.

Love Rival Siesta

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 1000 / 1 Soul / No trigger

«メイド Maid»

[C] During your opponent’s turn, all of your other characters gain Power +500.
[A] When this card is placed from your Hand to the Stage, you may look at the top 1 card of your deck, and place it at the top or the bottom of your Deck.

Siesta is useful on the defense since she gives a blanket +500 in the opponent’s turn, but it can leave you a little lacking on the offense. Her other ability allows you to check the top of your deck, which is always a useful ability.

“Magician of Justice” Himeno

Green / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 5000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic»

[A] [(3) Put this card to Clock] When [Magic that Connects Hearts] is put in your Climax Zone, you may pay the cost. If you do so, choose up to 1 [Feelings She Wants to Convey, Himeno] and up to 1 [Hearts that Understood Each Other, Kiyotaka & Himeno] from your Waiting Room, and put them in Rest in separate Borders on the Stage.

This Himeno is the first of a Trio and it comes with quite a heavy cost and activation requirement. If you pull off the Climax combo you can pay 3 and send the card to the Clock in order to fetch two 2/1 cards from your Waiting Room. This means you’ll basically be trading 2 cards for 2 other cards for the extra cost of 1 Stock and 1 Clock to allow you to play them a Level early.

Hearts that Understood Each Other, Kiyotaka & Himeno

Green / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 3500 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[C] ASSIST All of your characters in front of this card gain Power +1000.
[A] At the beginning of your Attack Phase, you may choose 1 of your characters in Rest whose card name includes [Himeno], and put it to Stand.

The first of that pair is a support card. Firstly it gives +1000 to the cards in front of it, which is about the boost you’d expect to be getting at Level 2. The second ability is the more interesting one, since it allows for combos with other cards, such as the final Himeno card in the trio. Normally you won’t have cards in Rest when the Attack Phase starts, unless they have negative abilities, or you need to Rest them as a cost for an effect. This card allows you to overcome that by Standing them again and allowing you to attack.

Feelings She Wants to Convey, Himeno

Green / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 9000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic»

[A] When your other Cost 0 or below character is put from your Hand to the Stage, if this card is in Stand, put this card to Rest.

This Himeno has very high power for her cost sitting at a hefty 9000, unfortunately to allow for this she has to come with a negative ability. Her ability means that if you try to conserve stock by playing Cost 0 cards you won’t be able to attack with her, however this is no problem with [Hearts that Understood Each Other, Kiyotaka & Himeno]. When the two cards are combined you’ll be able to play whatever you like alongside this Himeno and then Stand her when it’s time to fight.

If you can pull the combo off playing a 1000 attack card at Level 1 can be quite devastating. Even if you don’t pull it off, being able to hit for 10000 at Level 2 off a 1 stock card (provided the support it there) is nothing to scoff at.

Thoughts About Saito, Henrietta

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «王族 Royalty»

[A] [(1), Place this card into your Clock] When [Mirror of Truth] is put in your Climax Zone, you may pay the cost. If you do so, search your deck for up to one Level 1 or below «魔法 Magic» character and play it onto the original Border of this card.  Shuffle your Deck.

Mirror of Truth

Blue / Book Trigger

[C] All of your characters gain Power + 1000, and Soul +1.

Here we have a Henrietta Climax combo that allows you to both search your deck and perform a pseudo-Change. Since you’ll want to get the most out of this you’ll probably want to switch for your most powerful / most costly Level 1. This should allow you to dominate the Stage for at least a little while. Another possibility would be using it to grab another combo piece to set up for something else on the following turn. If you can pull it off this card will help you set up a dominant position during Level 0. If not you can at least ram it into Reversing cards or other cards with sub-3000 power.

“Ed’s Wish” Charles

Yellow / Level 1 / Cost 1 / 6500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[C] During your Climax Phase, you cannot play any Climaxes from your Hand.
[A] Change [Discard 1 card from your Hand to the Waiting Room, send this card to Memory] During the start of your Encore Step, and this card is in Rest position, you may pay the cost. If you do so, select one ["Santa’s First Love!" Charles] from your Waiting Room and place it into the original Border of this card.

Like earlier with Himeno we’ve now got a trio of Charles cards to come. The first Charles is a little unusual. For starters it prevents you from playing Climax cards, which can be a detriment if you have other cards which need them. She also has only 6500 attack, which is low for a 1/1 so it might seem strange that she has a penalty effect when she has lower than vanilla strength. I imagine this is to balance out with her 2nd effect which allows you to Change to a Level 2 card without a Stock cost, meaning it’s much easier to pull off the change than usual. We’ll be seeing the change target in two cards time.

Gift Of The Holy Night

Yellow / Level 2 / Cost 2 / Event / No Trigger

Look at up to 7 cards from the top of your deck and choose up to two character cards who either contain “Charles” in their name or have the «オモチァ Toy» attribute. Reveal them to your opponent and add them to your hand.  Put the remaining cards in your Waiting Room.

This event card is also a Counter card, but unusually it doesn’t supply an attack boost. Instead it allows you to thin your deck and potentially gain two new cards, leading to a +1 overall. Since it is only limited to 7 cards this can restrict your search choices compared to a full deck search, but in a Charles based deck you’ll usually be able to gain cards, whether they’re useful or not. It could also potentially save you from a lot of damage.

“Santa’s First Love” Charles

Yellow / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 7500 / 1 Soul / 1 Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] When [Magic of Happiness] is placed into your Climax Zone, if this card is in the Front Stage, select one of your other characters. That character gains Power +6000 until the end of the turn.
[A] When this card is played from your Waiting Room to the Stage, you may move this card to an empty Border of your Back Stage.

Much like the other Charles cards this is a little odd. Her 2nd ability is basically designed to work with the other card’s change ability allowing you to move her to safety in the Back Stage. This is presumably to set her up for the Climax combo next turn since she’s very small for a Level 2 and could even lose to some Level 1 cards. Her first ability is a Climax Combo which grants +6000 to another character, meaning lower Level cards can take down higher Level ones, and higher Level ones can become nearly unstoppable. If you pull it off it could be useful, but I prefer effects beyond just pure power for Climax combos.

Cute Role, Louise

Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «虚無 Void»

[C] For every other character you have with the CONCENTRATION ability, this card gains Power+500.

This Louise is a simple beatstick to encourage the use of concentration cards. Her power can range between 2500 and 4500 depending on the number of Concentration cards you have. You might also need to consider the fact that some of these could have support abilities, or give power boosts when their effects.

In The Bath, Tiffania

Green / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «虚無 Void»

[S] CONCENTRATION [(1), Rest this card] Reveal the top 4 cards of your Deck and put them in the Waiting Room. For every Climax revealed in this way, perform the following action.
“Choose one card in your Clock and add it to your hand, then place the top card of your Deck into your Clock.”

This is the same as [Relaxing Date, Sara] just for a different series.

“Mother of Two” Amy

Yellow / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 1500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

No Attributes

[A] [(1) Discard 1 «魔法 Magic» character from your Hand to the Waiting Room] When this card is sent from your Stage to the Waiting Room, you may pay the cost. If you do, select 1 Level 0 or below character from your Waiting Room and place it onto any Border on your Back Stage.

I think this is a Nanoha Strikers card? This is a pseudo-Change card, allowing you to swap this card out for any Level 0 from your Waiting Room when it gets sent to the Waiting Room. This is quite a useful ability early in the game, but I think 1 Stock and 1 card from your Hand might be too steep a cost for this.

Mother’s Day Koyomi Araragi

Yellow / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 1000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«怪異 Strangeness» / «血 Blood»
[C] During your turn, all your other Characters gain Power +500.
[A] When another of your«怪異 Strangeness» Characters or this card is placed on the Stage from your Hand, you may look at the top card of your Deck.(Return that card to its original position).

This Araragi is pretty standard yellow type support, in addition to allowing you to check the top of your deck. This means you’ll have more control over the amount of damage you’ll cause in your first attack.

New Years’ Eve Kiss

Red / Level 2 / Cost 1 / Event / No Trigger

Select one «生徒会 Student Council» character from your Waiting Room and add it to your hand.  Select one “New Years’ Eve Kiss” from your Waiting Room and send it to your Memory Zone. Place this card into the Memory Zone.

This card allows for character retrieval, to fetch a card to suit the current situation, and deck thinning for when you next Refresh. The effect of sending other copies from the Waiting Room to Memory is there in case copies end up in there from damage etc. This could be very useful in the right deck.

Irreplaceable Magic, Ricca

Yellow / Level 3 / Cost 2 / 9500 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[C] For every 1 of your other «生徒会 Student Council» characters, this card gains Power +500.
[A] When this card is put from your Hand to the Stage, look at up to the top 3 cards of your Deck, choose up to 1 card and add it to your Hand. Put the rest of the cards to the Waiting Room.

This Ricca card forgoes the usual heal you now expect from a Level 3 for strength and draw power. Even though she’s only a 9500 base I wouldn’t be surprised to see her reach 11500 before you even start to consider support cards, meaning she can take down most other Level 3 cards. Some other Level 3 cards come with draw effects, but this one allows you to check 3 cards, rather than just drawing 1. This means you’re more likely to get a useful card, and can also use it to thin your deck and dump useless cards to the Waiting Room. This means you’ll hopefully take less damage in the future.

Freezing, Himeno

Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 1500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «スポーツ Sports»

[C] ASSIST All of your characters in front of this card gain the following ability.
“[A] When this card becomes Reversed in battle, and you have less Stock than your opponent, you may place this card into your Stock.”
[A] When this card is played from your Hand to your Stage, look at the top card of your Deck, and place it at the top of your Deck or into your Waiting Room.

This Himeno card is an unusual sort of support, since rather than giving a Power boost, it gives bonus a bonus ability, in this case a stock gaining one. If you’re down on Stock and lose a character in battle they can turn into Stock rather than going to the Waiting Room, which is very useful. It means you can be a bit less conservative with your Stock, since you’ll be gaining it back soon anyway. Her 2nd ability is the usual useful effect which allows you to set up your deck for when you attack.

Two People’s Happiness, Himeno

Green / Level 3 / Cost 2  / 10000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / « 和服 Japanese Traditional Clothes»

[C] When your opponent has 4 or more stock, this card gains Power +1000.

[A] When this card is played from your Hand to the Stage, you may send the top card from your Clock to the Waiting Room.

This Himeno has the standard heal and 10000 attack you expect from a Level 3, but also comes with the potential for a power boost up to 11000. Unfortunately this is reliant on the amount of stock your opponent has, which reduces the reliability of the card.
Finally we’re at the end of that marathon session. Hopefully now I’ll be able to keep up so I don’t have to do that again…

Card of the day: 1st of May

1 May

We start off May with even more Zero no Tsukaima F cards in the form of Level 0 Tiffania and Louise cards.

Fairy of the forest, Tiffania

Green / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «虚無 Void»

[A] [(1) Discard 1 card to the Waiting Room] When this card is placed from your Hand to the Stage, you may pay the cost. If you do, search your Deck for up to 1 «魔法 Magic» Character, reveal it, and put it in your Hand. Shuffle your Deck afterwards.

Tiffania is a useful searcher card allowing you to fetch cards you need from your deck. If you use Saito not everything will be «魔法 Magic», but the vast majority of things in this set are. Since you lose a card in the process the card’s effect will be break even, but you can use this to ditch things like useless cards, Climaxes or Change targets. Since she’s a character card she can then attack to make up the stock you’ve just paid. Since she’s only a rather weedy 2000 attack card though she’ll likely not survive until the following turn. If possible you’ll want to ram her into the Reversing cards and save your better cards for bigger threats.

Can’t be truthful, Louise

Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 1500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «虚無 Void»

[A] [Put 1 Marker under this card to the Waiting Room] When this card attacks, you may pay the cost. If you do so, choose an Opponent’s Level 0 or below Character in Front Stage and put it in the Waiting Room.
[S] [Rest this card] If there are no Markers under this card, put the top 1 card of your Deck under this as a Marker.

This Louise card has an interesting form of Character removal since she’s reusable, has no Stock cost and you’re in control of who you take down. Of course she comes with drawbacks though. Firstly it takes two turns to set this up, since you must Rest her to gain a marker. This also means you’ll need to place her Back Stage otherwise she’ll get defeated before you can use her effect. This could also force you to hold off on playing a support card. The card is also only restricted to Level 0 meaning that if you don’t draw her very early on in the game you’ll possibly miss out on a chance to even use her effect. Since she’ll stick around after using her effect, unlike the normal Reversing cards, she can also block a little bit of damage during the following turn. If you can set her up this card can be helpful, but the normal Reversing cards, or just cards with massive attack scores are probably easier to use.

Card of the Day: 30th of April

30 Apr

As the final pair of cards in April we get a new Saito Climax combo from Zero no Tsukaima F.

Derflinger’s Partner, Saito

Yellow / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«使い魔 Familiar» / «武器 Weapon»

[A] [(1)] When [The Legendary Familiar] is put in the Climax Zone, if this card is in the Front Stage, you may pay the cost. If you do so, choose 1 of your opponent’s Level 2 or below characters, and return it to their Hand.

The Legendary Familiar

Yellow / 2 Soul Trigger

[A] When this card is put from your Hand to the Climax Zone, draw 1 card, and choose 1 of your characters. It gains Power +2000 and Soul +1 for that turn.

This Saito combo is a useful way to swing for some quick damage and deplete the opponent’s stock, but won’t be a permanent way to deal with threats. As a bonus you won’t lose any cards in the process because the Climax replaces itself. Ideally you want to use the combo to bounce either high cost cards or Changed cards which have broken the normal level limits. This will mean the opponent has to use up their stock to replay their cards and in the Change case the card will now become a dead weight until they reach the appropriate level. Following the combo you can try hitting through the gaps for heavy damage or to try and flush out Climaxes. If you gave Saito the boost from the Climax card he could even defeat an additional character in battle. Unfortunately since Saito only sits at 2500 he will likely be defeated the turn after you use his effect, and if you can’t pull his effect off will have a hard time defeating things in battle.

Card of the Day: 28th and 29th of April

30 Apr

In a surprise move Bushiroad have posted cards over the weekend, so there are 4 new Da Capo III cards to look at.

Spoiled Mode, Aoi

Blue / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 3000 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper» / «ウェイトレス Waitress»

[C] All of your other  «メイド Maid» or «ウェイトレス Waitress» characters gains Power +1000.
[A] When [Full of Dreams] is put into your Climax Zone, put 2 cards from the top of your deck to the waiting room. If there is a Climax amongst those cards, put the top card from your Clock to your Waiting Room.

Full of Dreams

Blue / Book Trigger

[C] All your characters gain Power +1000 and Soul +1.

Up first we have a pair of Aoi cards for a Climax Combo. The Climax itself is the standard style of Book trigger, which personally I like just a bit below the Door trigger. The actual Aoi card is a bit limited in its uses though and I think you’re unlikely to get the Climax effect to work properly very often. The attributes she helps should mean all your other Aoi cards will get a power up, and could be helpful in a Maid deck. However I’m not sure how many non-Aoi cards in the set have Waitress, or if there are many in set Maids at all for that matter. The fact it boosts all other characters gives it a wider range of boosts than the Level support cards, however it can’t match them on pure power.

The Climax effect is basically a Concentration effect, just without the name. If you somehow pull the combo off then hit another Climax or two you’ll get to heal 1 damage. Whilst healing is always nice I think losing at least 2 Climaxes in the process is too high a cost. Admittedly it’s better the 2nd one is in your Waiting Room than the Stock, but it could be something with a useful trigger. Additionally I think it’s rather unlikely this effect will succeed. If it doesn’t I suppose at least your deck is thinner.

Feelings of “love”, Ricca

Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 1000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A][(1) Put this card to Memory] When this card is front attacked, you may pay the cost. If you do so, choose 1 [Public Newspaper Club's President. Ricca] from your hand, put that card in this card’s slot as a defending character.

Without knowing the card this works with it’s impossible to judge properly how good this is. I would assume it’s a bigger card, possibly a Level 1, but that’s just a guess. Getting cards into Memory is useful for the next card though.

[Name Hidden]

Blue / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 5500 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «お菓子 Sweets»

[C] All your other characters gain the ability [[C] RECOLLECTION If the number of cards in your Memory is X or more, this card gains Power + 1000. X is equal to this character’s level.]

This is an interesting ability if you play enough cards that end up in Memory. It will basically power up all your other characters by 1000 if you manage to get 3 cards into Memory, although of course you need less for lower level cards. The fact it’s not attribute restricted means it can fit into any kind of deck, unlike the Aoi card earlier which only works in certain decks. It might for example find a place in Memory based decks in Standard, although I imagine they already have plenty of options. One unfortunate point about this card is that I would assume the ability wouldn’t stack if you played 2 copies, since they’d just give all your cards the same ability twice, meaning only a +1000 boost. I could be wrong on this though.

Card of the Day: 23rd to 27th of April

27 Apr

Looks like I’m making a bad habit of falling behind on cards since I’ve now got to catch up on 4 days worth of cards, and one of those had 3 cards. We started the week with a Tabitha and a Himeno card with very similar artworks and effects. Tuesday brought us what I assume is massive spoilers for Zero no Tsukaima F and an Encore card for Da Capo III. Wednesday brought us a Louise card with Change and a potentially powerful Sara card. Thursday brought us a triple bill of a Louise card with a Climax combo and the Saito card see works with. Finally today (Friday) brings us a Da Capo III support card double bill.

Royalty of Gallia, Tabitha

Yellow / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «王族 Royalty»

[S] CONCENTRATION [(1)] Turn over the top 4 cards of your Deck and put them to the Waiting Room. X is equal to the number of Climaxes in those cards. Look for up to X «魔法 Magic» characters from your Deck, show them to your opponent and add them to Hand. Shuffle that Deck. Choose X cards from your Hand and put them to the Waiting Room.

This Tabitha card can be a useful card because at the time you’ll probably be using her effect your deck will be larger, so it’s more likely the card you’ll need will be in your deck. Unfortunately unlike most Concentration abilities like this you don’t end up gaining any cards overall, since you discard at the end. The discarding isn’t always bad though, since you can use it to set up for Change effects later in the game, or some of the other Concentration effects in the series that fetches cards from the Waiting Room. On the plus side since she doesn’t rest, like the next card does, you can repeatedly use her effect until you get the desired effect.

Overslept, Himeno

Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper» / «パジャマ Pajama»

[S] CONCENTRATION [(1) Put this card to Rest] Turn over the top 4 cards of your Deck and put them to the Waiting Room. For every 1 Climax amongst those cards, choose up to 1 «新聞 Newspaper» character card from your Waiting Room and return it to your Hand.

This Himeno card works in a very similar way to the Tabitha above, except she has a slightly more powerful effect, but at a higher cost. Since you must Rest this card to use the effect you will usually only be able to make sure of the effect once per turn, so you’d better hope it does what you want it to. Rather than from the deck you instead get cards from the Waiting Room, which is of course better late game than early game. You also don’t lose any cards in the process meaning you gain advantage when this card is successful.

Smiling farewell, Louise

Red / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 4000 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «虚無 Void»

[C] RECOLLECTION If [Unshakable feelings, Saito] is in your Memory, this card gains Power +2000.
[A] [(1)] When this card is put from your Hand to the Stage, you may pay the cost. If you do so, choose 1 [Unshakable feelings, Saito] from your Waiting Room and put it to Memory.

This Louise card works with a Saito card further down this article and creates quite a nice set up for late game. Unless you can find some other way to get Saito into Memories you’ll be using this card’s 2nd effect for that task, which means ultimately this card works out as a 1/1 6000. This is pretty poor for a cost 1 overall. However it does mean that any subsequent copies you play will be a 1/0 6000, which is very good for Cost 0 with no drawbacks. As an added bonus it does also thin your deck by 1 for the next Refresh, so it’ll make cancelling slightly easier.

If you can get multiple copies of this card at the same time you can mount a fairly powerful but cheap attack, but its main use is for setting up the late game.

Labor girl, Aoi

Blue / Level 2 / Cost 2 / 8500 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper» / «ウェイトレス Waitress»

[A] ENCORE [Put the top 1 card of your Deck to Clock]

This is very similar to Hero’s knight, Tabitha, except its Encore comes with a different cost of taking 1 damage to do so. In terms of card advantage this sort of Encore is better, however she will slowly kill you every time you use it. If you want to take the risk of killing yourself sooner you can try her out, but at the later points of the game I’d much rather power than Encore if that’s all the card has going for it.

Unconscious power, Louise

Red / Level 2 / Cost 1 / 7500 / 1 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «虚無 Void»

[A] When this card is put from your Hand to the Stage, if your Deck has 5 or less cards, choose up to 1 «使い魔 Familiar» or «虚無 Void» character card from your Waiting Room and return it to your Hand, and return all of the cards in your Waiting Room to the Deck. Shuffle that Deck.
[A] CHANGE [(1)] Put 1 card from your Hand to the Waiting Room, put this card to the Waiting Room] At the beginning of your Encore Step, if this card is at Rest, you may pay the cost. If you do so, choose 1 [In Love, Louise] from your Waiting Room and put it in the Border this card was in.

This Louise comes with two effects, the second of which will be used far more often.

The first effect  can be quite difficult to time because you have quite a small window to use it in, especially if your opponent knows you use this card. Sometimes you can try and time things so you’ll have the 5 cards, but sometimes the opponent will just hit you hard and you can’t really control anything about that. If it does work not only do you get a free Refresh with no damage, you also get a free card in the process, making this a very good effect if you pull it off.

The second effect changes into the Level 3 card we’ll see later, meaning that for an overall cost of 2 stock and 1 card from your hand you can play a Level 3 card a Level early. This is of course always something useful to do. Unfortunately the two effects attached to this card do conflict though, since if you refill your deck you’ll have nothing in the Waiting Room to change into. However you can get around this. If you search [In Love, Louise] with the first effect you could discard it as a cost for the Change effect and then bring it out. (This is because in WS you’re always allowed to pay the costs for effects)

Quiet holiday, Sara

Blue / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 2500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper» / «スポーツ Sports»

[A] At the beginning of your opponent’s Attack Phase, reveal the top 1 card of your Deck. If that card is a «スポーツ Sports» character, this card gains Power +1500 and [[A] ENCORE [Put 1 character card from Hand to the Waiting Room]] for that turn.

This Sara card is similar to [Nagato Yuki] from Haruhi, however she comes with greater risk and a slightly better attack score. She’s better on attacking since she has 2500 attacking meaning that with support she can take down unsupported 3000 attack cards. When her effect succeeds she’ll be 4000 on the defensive, which is very good. However without knowing whether you can fill the entire deck with good «スポーツ Sports» cards I’m not sure how often this will happen.

In love, Louise

Red / Level 3 / Cost 2 / 10000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«魔法 Magic» / «虚無 Void»

[A] When this card is put from your Hand or via  Change to the Stage, you may put the top 1 card of your Clock to the Waiting Room.
[A] When [World Door] is  put in your Climax Zone, if this card is in the Front Stage, select one [Unshakable feelings, Saito] in your Memory and put it in any Slot on the Stage, and this card gains Power +3000 for the turn.

Here we have the first of our triple bill. The stats and healing ability for this card are pretty standard, but it’s the Climax combo where she can really shine. She fetches the following Saito card from Memory, which should already be there from [Smiling farewell, Louise] and gives herself a large attack boost. On the turn you play her this Louise could reach as high as 15500 without even considering extra support cards. This can then break through most defenses out there. For the following turns you’ll have also gained a powerful supporting card which can keep up your high attack power.

All these cards together can help you build a powerful coherent strategy throughout the deck.

Unshakable feelings, Saito

Red / Level 2 / Cost 2 / 6000 / 2 Soul / 1 Soul Trigger

«使い魔 Familiar» / «武器 Weapon»

[C] All your other «虚無 Void» Characters gain Power + 1500.

This Saito is very simple. He’s just a powerful support card for your Louise (and I suppose Tiffania) cards. He comes at a slightly higher cost than Level support cards, but can still provide the +1500 even to Level 2s or cards not in front of him.

Often you won’t actually ever have to pay this cost though. Ideally you want to get him into the Waiting Room in the early game, then use [Smiling farewell, Louise] to send him to Memories before retrieving him back with [In love, Louise].

World door

Red / Door Trigger

[C] All your characters gain Power +1000 and Soul +1.

This is the Climax for [In love, Louise]. Being a Door Trigger gives it an advantage over the Climax combo ones with less useful triggers.

Hidden feelings, Himeno

Red / Level 0 / Cost 0 / 500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper»

[C] ASSIST All of your characters in front of this card gain Power +500.
[S] [Put the top 1 card of your Deck to Clock, put 2 of your characters to Rest] Choose 1 [Tsun tsun Himeno] from your Waiting Room and put it in any Border on the Stage you wish.

This Himeno card is the standard supporter for Level 0, but she also comes with a retrieval effect, allowing you to get back a card we last saw over a month ago. If you have 2 support cards already you’ll be able to rest them both and get [Tsun tsun Himeno] to hopefully use as an attacker without compromising the rest of your plays. Getting her back for a support role seems like a bit of a waste though, since you’ll end up either giving up an attack for the turn, or end up with a weakened [Tsun tsun Himeno] on the Front Stage who’ll get defeated next turn. During the early game the damage cost shouldn’t be too hard on you, and it’s always nice to essentially get a card for free.

Overflowing thoughts, Ricca

Red / Level 1 / Cost 0 / 4500 / 1 Soul / No Trigger

«新聞 Newspaper» / «生徒会 Student Council»

[A] When this card is put from your Hand to the Stage, choose 1 of your other «新聞 Newspaper» characters. It gains Power +2000 for that turn.

Like similar cards the main use of one turn supporters like this is to allow another card to hit safely whilst probably sacrificing herself. This has an advantage over event cards by also allowing you to cause damage and build stock. +2000 is quite an impressive boost early in the game, and can even find uses during the late game as well. She’s less versatile than some other cards out there since she can’t boost herself, so you need to hope you have at least one other character with a decent power at the time you play her, otherwise she’ll go to waste.
